But it has a similarly chilly temperature, the same clipped sense of smart-ass New England doom and Kennedy-accented cynicism welling up from the mean, sullen streets. But it still seems like a real city, a real community soaking itself into the bones of the characters, seeping out through their casual, slangy patter. The Town is an entertainment and a romance, which finishes the way you want a good entertaining movie to end. We first see Doug, Jem and their two regular accomplices, holding up a bank, with casual ruthless organization and skill, leaping over barriers, forcing everyone to the floor, eerily wearing horror movie skull masks. Later, in the second heist, even more eerily, they wear the masks of cadaverous nuns. Doug is hard-nosed, efficient, but strangely considerate, especially to the pretty bank manager, Claire Keesey Rebecca Hall , who has to open the vault for him. Jem is vicious and unpredictable, repeatedly smashing one hapless banker on the floor, then deciding to kidnap Claire, then releasing her. There are two sets of villains here not counting Jem: Hamm steals so many scenes, that, like Renner, he hints at Oscar nomination possibilities. Their kids may be college basketball stars.

The story of Jung, Freud, and Sabina Spielrein. This is also the third Cronenberg film made with British film producer Jeremy Thomas , after completing together the William Burroughs adaptation Naked Lunch and the J. He is using word association and dream interpretation as part of his approach to Freud’s radical new science of psychoanalysis, and finds that Spielrein’s condition was triggered by the humiliation and sexual arousal she felt as a child due to her short-tempered father’s habit of spanking her naked.
These conflicting feelings were compounded by her instinctive knowledge imparted by an angel’s voice that speaks in German that she had done nothing to deserve such a punishment and in fact that she may have been a stand-in for her mother in her father’s abuse since her mother was unfaithful. Also, her affluent Russian Jewish family afforded her an exceptional education in preparation for university study, although not on the subject of sex, and she was a virgin.
She soon learns that much of this new science is founded on the doctors’ observations of themselves, each other, and their families, not just their patients. The doctors correspond at length before they meet, and begin sharing their dreams and analysing each other, and Freud adopts Jung as his heir and agent. Jung finds in Sabina a kindred spirit with a unique perspective as her self-awareness sharpens, and their attraction deepens in what was already well known at the time as transference. Jung’s resistance to the idea of infidelity, and breaking the taboo of sex with a patient, is undercut by the wild and unrepentant confidences of another brilliant, philandering, unstable psychoanalyst who comes under his care, Otto Gross.
He decries monogamy in general and suggests that resistance to transference is symptomatic of the repression of normal, healthy sexual impulses, exhorting Jung to indulge himself with abandon. Jung finally begins their affair, which in the film includes rudimentary bondage and spanking Sabina at times. Things become even more tangled as he becomes her advisor to her dissertation; he publishes not only his studies of her as a patient but eventually her treatise as well.

Eileen Daly American Pie Presents: Band Camp This fourth film in the franchise-series of teen sex comedies was the first of four American Pie Presents: As predictably expected, it contained the requisite crude humor involving bodily fluids , disastrous sexual encounters, and obscenities but only a few tame hints of nudity. Only the ‘unrated’ version, seconds longer than the R-version with reinstated scenes of naked breasts, contained much more nudity.
Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung and Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud in A Dangerous Method. I suppose when you are a psychoanalyst that you must remain detached and aloof from your subjects so that you can keep a clear and objective mind about them.
Or so I am told. This melodrama centers around Tita Lumi Cavozos , a woman not free to love whom she chooses, whose anguished tears fall into the food she cooks and stokes passion in all who eat it. None of this movie really makes sense: Once again, he plays an unfathomably mystery to the opposite sex that can only be understood after what seems like weeks of intercourse.
Jock walking down the beach? Taye Diggs is Dexter St. And in this fever dream, Cage and Dern set the world on fire by having sex all the time. Which is why the scene where Jacob Gosling takes Hannah Stone home, planning on executing a one night stand but falling in love, works so damned well. Browning plays a high-end escort who gets paid to sleep naked next to old dudes.
And there is absolutely something to be said for women of a certain age. You just put your lips together and blow. And Sigourney Weaver was no slouch. So to pair them in a romance set against a brewing revolution in Indonesia … not too shabby. Conmen and car washes.

Given the genre, of course, young Arthur can’t help himself. And by chasing shadows — as well as a multitude of bumps, scrapes and screams in the night — he causes a great deal of trouble. James Watkins’s film is notable not just as the first outing for Daniel Radcliffe since the completion of the Harry Potter franchise and, as such, a litmus test of his appeal away from the warm embrace of Hogwarts but because, surprisingly, it is the first ghost story produced by the horror studio Hammer.

Is life all really about sex as Sigmund Freud claims or is there more to it all as growing rival Carl Jung suspects? Based on true events and theories, Keira Knightley stars as Sabina Spielrein, the patient that first brought the two leading theorists together and then pitted them against each other after she became Jung’s lover. Knightly gives a disturbingly, confrontational and alarmingly physical performance as Spielrein.
She is almost unrecognizable as she grunts, writhes, gasps all the while her body contorting, her chin jutting out at extreme angles.
“I tried to bring in some humor,” he told the Huffington Post in a recent interview promoting the film, which also stars Viggo Mortensen as Jung mentor Sigmund Freud and Keira Knightley as young psychoanalyst Sabina Spielrein. “When we pick Jung up in this portion of his life, he was very ambitious, determined, and insecure.
They will be referenced in relation to not only well-known movies but also indie films. The following list proposes a template by which to judge these promising young actors, focusing on acting skill and both on past experiences and future projects. Obviously the intent is not to outline a biography of the actors, but to offer some interesting insights into understanding their growth within the world of cinema. From this list emerges a rather curious fact: At the moment there seem to be few emerging actors since the s who are able to repeat the route taken by Leonardo Di Caprio, who went from promising young star to respected actor.
Of course Di Caprio has talent, but no doubt he made the right choices in working with great directors and in great movies. On the female side, actresses like Emma Stone, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence promise to become leading players on the Hollywood scene in the coming years. Jamie Bell This young British actor made himself known to the general public in , when he excited attention in his debut film Billy Elliot.

This interpretation earned him, at age 14, a large number of awards including a BAFTA, and inserted him into the landscape of Hollywood as a rising star. In subsequent years, Jamie participated in several roles in films of some success.
Focusing on the last few years, Jamie Bell seems to have raised the bar by providing interpretations that are very convincing and mature.

Orlando Bloom is an English actor. After having his breakthrough as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, he rose to fame by further appearing in epic fantasy, historical epic, and fantasy adventure films. He was named after the 16th century English composer Orlando Gibbons. He has an older sister, Samantha Bloom.
Through her, Bloom is a cousin of photographer Sebastian Copeland. Bloom was raised in the Church of England. Bloom was discovered to be dyslexic, and was encouraged by his mother to take art and drama classes. He then joined the National Youth Theatre, spending two seasons there and earning a scholarship to train at the British American Drama Academy. Bloom began acting professionally with television roles in episodes of Casualty and Midsomer Murders, and subsequently made his film debut in Wilde , opposite Stephen Fry, before entering the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he studied acting.
Two days after graduating from Guildhall in , he was cast in his first major role, playing Legolas in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy — He had originally auditioned for the part of Faramir, who does not appear until the second movie, but the director, Peter Jackson, cast him as Legolas instead. She has one brother, Caleb, who is five years older than her. After Keira’s mother gave up acting, she went on to pursue a successful career as a playwright. Keira’s father was Will Knightley, who was also a stage and TV actor. With such a theatrical background, it was hardly surprising that young Keira should grow up wanting to act.
Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley When David Cronenberg first started directing, he made movies about characters so out of touch with the workings of their own minds that their repressed fears and desires started to take fleshly form.
Relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, most of the Fellowship had stayed away from Hollywood and seem to have done the same since. With a couple of characters set to return to Middle Earth in the upcoming Hobbit trilogy I decided to see what had become of everyone else who took part in one of the most loved, most successful and simply best trilogies of all time! Has so much pressure and weight ever been felt before by an actor? The star of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Wood looked like he would have a huge career of success and with roles immediately after this trilogy in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Sin City it looked as though a career at the highest level was attainable for the young actor.
Although, this move to television cannot be complained about as he stars in the hilarious series Wilfred. Wood has done voice work in films such as 9 and Happy Feet but nothing that big or that successful has come his way in the floods that he may have been expecting. McKellen has had an interesting career since Lord of the Rings; he finished off the X-Men trilogy, had a brief stint in British television soap Coronation Street and leant his voice to the fantastical feature Stardust.
He also starred in an unsuccessful remake of cult television hit The Prisoner alongside Jim Caviezel. His work this decade has mainly consisted of short films but McKellen will be returning to Middle Earth for The Hobbit trilogy and will play an important part in getting the story going! He was a very honest, strong, caring soldier and took his duties as a protector of the hobbits very seriously.
